For the better part of fifteen years, Lauren Goodger has been observed, photographed, discussed, and scrutinized. Tabloids have treated her body, including its size, shape, and appearance in a particular top or on a particular beach, as almost public property. It is important to state clearly that this is not typical and that there have been repercussions.
This is also true, though. Goodger has continued to speak throughout it all. Not always flawlessly. Not all the time on her terms. However, she has continued to participate in the discussion, frequently pushing back and disclosing information that most people in her position would keep confidential.
Over the years, her weight has changed significantly, and she has never pretended otherwise. She had reached a size 16 during her early TOWIE years due to a lifestyle centered around social gatherings and late nights. She lost 13 pounds to 9 pounds in about six months by 2015, thanks to a rigorous exercise regimen before the release of a workout DVD. The outcomes were striking. It was a rigorous approach. Furthermore, as she subsequently acknowledged, she was unable to sustain it.

She returned to a size 12 by the middle of 2016, and she was open about why. Pop Tarts. Out at night. There were weeks when life interfered with training. That feeling—the gradual return to old habits following a period of discipline—will be familiar to the majority of readers. Instead of rebranding it as a wellness journey or claiming it was intentional, Goodger described it without the typical celebrity gloss. She simply stated that she had gained weight again and that it didn’t really bother her because at least she felt like herself once more.
One of her more subtly intriguing qualities is her candor. She responded to critics in 2016 who claimed that her fuller figure was the product of cosmetic surgery by claiming that the change was only the result of targeted gym work and weight gain.
She remarked, “I actually love how my body is looking at the moment,” at the time. “My curves make me feel really sexy.” That was refreshing in some way. Not exactly defiant. Just be truthful.
More serious issues than criticism have emerged in the years since. Following the death of her daughter Lorena in 2022, Goodger underwent physical and other changes. She has talked about how the trauma caused her to lose weight quickly and how, in the aftermath, she purposefully changed her focus from chasing a number on the scale to eating healthily and leading a steady life.
She is aware that, at 39, she is carrying about four stones more than she would like. However, she is also being characteristically forthright about how she intends to deal with it. Despite what appears to be sincere peer pressure from friends who make jokes about stabbing her while she sleeps, she refuses weight-loss injections. She doesn’t want to be involved because she has witnessed enough of the negative effects, such as thinning hair, dehydrated skin, and muscle loss. Instead, she is engaging in cardio, intermittent fasting, and moderate eating without giving up the things she truly enjoys. “I still eat carbs,” she recently stated. “And if I want chocolate, I’ll have it.”
This story can be written as a warning, as a comeback story, or as proof that something is wrong. However, what emerges most from listening to Goodger discuss her body over the years is that she has gradually come to understand that her feelings are more important than how she appears in a picture. It’s not a dramatic ending. However, it may be the most truthful one out there.
